The 1997-98 NBA season was the Rockets' 31st season in the NBA and 27th season in the city of Houston.[1] The 1997–98 Houston Rockets season ended with a record of 41–41, which was worse than the prior season's record of 57–25. Their first game was at home against the Cleveland Cavaliers on October 31, 1997. The Rockets won 94–86. Their last game was at home against the Phoenix Suns on April 19, 1998; the Rockets lost 93–123. They however made the playoffs after finishing fourth in the NBA Midwest Division. The Rockets lost three of their five playoff games against the Utah Jazz.
