The 1997 First-Year Player Draft, Major League Baseball's annual amateur draft of high school and college baseball players, was held on June 2 and 3, 1997. A total of 1607 players were drafted over the course of 92 rounds.

Future major leaguers Jeff Weaver (2nd round, 62nd overall), Chase Utley (2nd round, 76th overall), Eric Byrnes (4th round, 130th overall), Xavier Nady (4th round, 134th overall), Cliff Lee (8th round, 246th overall), Garrett Atkins (10th round, 300th overall), Brandon Lyon (37th round, 1110th overall), David DeJesus (43rd round, 1281st overall), Brad Hawpe (46th round, 1344th overall), and Aaron Heilman (55th round, 1488th overall) were also selected during this draft, but did not sign with the teams that selected them. Weaver and Byrnes were subsequently drafted for the last time in 1998, Lyon in 1999, Utley, Nady, Lee, Atkins, DeJesus and Hawpe in 2000, and Heilman in 2001.
