The 1997 Purefoods Corned Beef Cowboys season is the 10th season of the franchise in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).

Transactions

• Traded Glen Capacio to Mobiline for Cadel Mosqueda
• Traded Olsen Racela to San Miguel Beer for a pair of draft picks in 1999 and 2000
• Signed 11-year veteran Santiago Cabatu midway in the All-Filipino, to temporarily replaced Reuben De la Rosa's spot in the lineup
• After being eliminated in the Commissioners Cup, traded Crisanto Bolado to Gordons Gin in exchange for 7-foot EJ Feihl, who hold out of his contract with the Boars asking for an increase in salary, Feihl began playing for Purefoods in the Governors Cup.

Notable Achievements

• Purefoods Corned Beef Cowboys won the All-Filipino Cup at the expense of Gordons Gin Boars, 4-2, Eric Altamirano became the youngest coach to steer his team to a PBA crown, Purefoods, under a new moniker Carne Norte Beefies made it again to the finals in the season-ending Governor's Cup, placed runner-up to Alaska Milk. Alvin Patrimonio won his fourth MVP trophy, tying the record of Ramon Fernandez' four MVPs.
