This pleasant collection of 20 traditional Irish ballads blends a large measure of wistfulness with dashes of wry whimsy and sanguine good humor. Most of the airs on this album are best suited for relaxed rumination. Participants are Corrib Folk, Seán Ó'Sé, Shamrog, Blackthorn, Brier, Tara, Margaret Barry, Paddy Reilly, John Close, Pat Woods, and Ronnie Drew, who sits in with the Dubliners to sing "Johnson's Motor Car." Additional guests of the Dubliners are Jim McCann ("Carrickfergus") and Luke Kelly ("Whiskey in the Jar"). ~ arwulf arwulf, Rovi
