  • February 25: Purefoods opened their 2000 PBA season campaign with a rousing 98-75 victory over last year's two-time titlist San Miguel Beer.

Finals stint

  • Purefoods return to the PBA finals after two years of non-title playoff, During the All-Filipino Cup, the Tender Juicy Hotdogs got the benefit of playing in the championship when the league forefeited Tanduay Rhum's two wins over them during the Best-of-Five semifinal series where Fil-Sham Sonny Alvarado was fielded in. With the series stands 2-1 in their favor, Purefoods went on to win Game 4, 72-71 on Boyet Fernandez' buzzer-beating triple, to reach the All-Filipino finals against the Alaska Milkmen, after winning Game 1, the Tender Juicy Hotdogs lost the rest of the game in the series for a 1-4 defeat, settled for second-place trophy.
  • Failing to make it in the semifinal round of the Commissioner's Cup, Purefoods bounced back in the season-ending Governors Cup tourney, with Derrick Brown, eventually named Best Import of the conference, the Tender Juicy Hotdogs were on their second trip to the finals in the 2000 season, this time against defending champion San Miguel Beer, the Hotdogs fell behind 0-3 in the best-of-seven series with the dynasty-seeking Beermen, and lost anew, 1-4 for another runner-up finish.
