Season Recap

• Barangay Ginebra kings makes a return trip to the PBA finals since 1997, and the first time post-Jaworski era, playing against sister team San Miguel Beermen in the 2001 All-Filipino Cup, the kings made it by winning twice over Purefoods TJ Hotdogs during the quarterfinals, both by 1 pt winning margin, and repeated history with two victories in a twice-to-beat disadvantage, went on to win the best-of-five semifinal series against the Shell Turbo Chargers, 3 games to 2, center Jun Limpot played in his first finals appearance after eight years, while aerial voyager Vergel Meneses is back in the PBA finals since his Sunkist days in 1995. the Barangay Ginebra kings lost to the more favored-San Miguel Beermen, 4-2, led by reigning MVP Danny Ildefonso and Fil-am Danny Seigle.
• In the Commissioner's Cup and Governor's Cup tournament, the Barangay Ginebra kings failed to advance to the semis, were ousted during the quarterfinal round.
