The Nashville Sounds' 2003 season was the franchise's twenty-sixth year of play. The team finished the regular season with a record of 81 wins and 62 losses. They finished first place in their division, clinching the Eastern Division title. In post-season play, the team had three wins and four losses; they won the American Conference title, but were defeated in the league championship series.

Regular season
On April 7, right-hander John Wasdin pitched the first perfect game in Nashville Sounds history in his first start of the season against the Albuquerque Isotopes.[1] The 4–0 Sounds win was only the second nine-inning perfect game in PCL history.[1] The team clinched the American Eastern Division title, advanced them to the post-season for the first time as a member of the PCL.

Post-season
American Conference finals
The American Eastern Division champion Sounds met the American Central Division champion Albuquerque Isotopes in a best-of-five series to determine the American Conference champion. The teams split the first two games, which were played in Nashville. The Sounds won game three in 12 innings by a score of 12–10 to lead the series. Nashville defeated Albuquerque in the fourth and final game to win the conference title and advance to the league championship series.
Pacific Coast League Championship
Nashville met the Pacific Conference champion Sacramento River Cats in the league championship series. The River Cats defeated the Sounds in three straight games, ending Nashville's first shot at the PCL title.

Awards and honors
Pitcher Mark Corey was named to the league's mid-season All-Star team.[2] He was also named, along with outfielder John Barnes, to the post-season squad.
Corey's 30 saves tied him with another pitcher for the league high. J. J. Davis' .544 slugging percentage was the highest in the league.[3]
