"Hi-yo, Silver, away!!" The Lone Ranger premiered on WXYZ-Radio in Detroit on this date in 1933. The television show, starring Clayton Moore in the title role and Jay Silverheels as "Tonto", aired from 1949 until 1957. "Silver" was "The Lone Ranger's" horse.
