Spotlight: The National Women's Hall of Fame honors American women who have made special contributions to society. Among inductees are Susan B. Anthony, who on this date in 1873 was fined $100 for attempting to vote in a presidential election; Amelia Earhart, who became the first woman to fly across the Atlantic on this date in 1928; and Sally Ride, who became America's first woman in space on this date in 1983.
