Diana, Princess of Wales, was born on this date 45 years ago. The first wife of Prince Charles, she was 20 years old when they married. Prior to their marriage, Diana had been a kindergarten teacher. She became heavily involved in charitable work, worked tirelessly for concerns related to AIDS, and was a fierce opponent of the use of land mines. In 1996, Diana and Charles divorced after a four-year separation. The following year she and her companion, Dodi Fayed, were killed in a high-speed auto accident. Driver Henri Paul was also killed in the crash.
