February
- February 7, 2006 - The last ever Thomas and Friends VHS, Thomas & The Really Brave Engines & Other Adventures, is released.
March
- March 14, 2006 - A History of Violence becomes the last major Hollywood title to be released in the VHS format.[1][2]
April
- April 18, 2006 marked the launch of HD DVD in the US. (Discontinued)
June
- June 20, 2006 marked the launch of Blu-ray Disc in the US.
