2008 British Touring Car Championship season

The drivers' championship was won by Fabrizio Giovanardi for the VX Racing team.

The 2008 HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship season was the 51st British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) season. It was also the first that the championship is sponsored by HiQ. Fabrizio Giovanardi won his second consecutive title, with a non-scoring fourteenth place finish in round 28.

• VX Racing expanded to three Vauxhall Vectras.
• SEAT became the first works team to run a diesel powered car, introducing the SEAT Leon TDi used by SEAT in the World Touring Car Championship
• Team Air Cool switched from the SEAT Toledo to the petrol powered SEAT Leon.
• Arkas Racing with sunshine.co.uk ran a pair of Vauxhall Astra Sport Hatches.
• Robertshaw Racing entered a pair of Chevrolet Lacettis in addition to the Honda Integra introduced towards the end of 2007.
• Motorbase Performance replaced the SEAT Toledos with a pair of BMW 320sis.
• John Guest Racing expanded to two Honda Integras.

• BTC Racing switched to Seat Toledos from Donington onwards.
• Matt Allison left the series after Donington.
• Gareth Howell stood in for Stuart Oliver at Thruxton due to Oliver’s truck racing commitments. Howell also competed at Oulton Park
• Oliver left the series after Croft to concentrate on truck racing.

Other changes

• Dunlop is no longer the sponsor of the BTCC. HiQ are the new sponsors, although both brands share the same parent company.
