The 2012 NRL season is the 106th season of professional rugby league club competition in Australia, and the first run by the newly-formed Australian Rugby League Commission. The main competition, called the 2012 NRL Telstra Premiership due to sponsorship from Telstra Corporation is being contested by sixteen teams for the sixth consecutive year. The season started with the 2012 NRL All Stars match and will culminate in the 2012 NRL grand final. The 2012 Toyota Cup is also taking place alongside the Premiership.
Also starting this year, the finals system will be changed, with the controversial McIntyre Final Eight System to be replaced with the finals system currently used by the AFL which was also devised by Ken McIntyre.
