20th Century Masters: A Tribute to Elvis Presley is an entertaining collection of Presley favorites as covered by a variety of superstars. The emphasis is plainly on country artists (Ann-Margret's sultry rendition of "Heartbreak Hotel" is the most obvious exception), ranging from rockabilly-styled rave-ups like Jerry Lee Lewis' "Don't Be Cruel" to lush instrumentals like Chet Atkins' "It's Now or Never"; while none of the performances surpass the originals, the end result is nevertheless a fun and worthwhile listening experience. ~ Jason Ankeny, Rovi| 20th Century Masters (2006 Album by Valdy) | |
