2862 Vavilov (1977 JP) is a main-belt asteroid discovered on May 15, 1977 by N. Chernykh at Nauchnyj. It is named after Russian plant geneticist Nikolai Vavilov and his physicist brother Sergey Ivanovich Vavilov.[1]
