Biography

Los Angeles cousins Tha D and KK attended high school in Compton with DJ Quik before landing a record deal with Profile. Their debut 2nd II None had two strong compositions: "Be True to Yourself" and "If You Want It," both of which did respectably. The album was re-released in 1999 as a precursor to a brand-new full-length, Classic 220. ~ Ron Wynn, All Music Guide

History

Early years

Before becoming rappers, the two musicians were (and still are) members of the Bloods.Their career started in 1987, when they were signed to Profile Records along with DJ Quik, after the release of The Red Tape. They released their first album in 1991, the self-titled 2nd II None on Profile Records. Their second album, Classic 220 on Arista Records, came eight full years after their debut. Their albums were mainly produced by childhood friend and rapper/producer DJ Quik. In 2008, their 1994 unreleased album Tha Shit was leaked on the internet.

Both of the group's albums reached the Billboard 200 album chart and entered the top 40 on Billboard's R&B/hip-hop album chart.
