Game Description

Based on the novel by Frank Miller and the 2007 film by Zack Snyder, 300: March to Glory invites game room gladiators to slice their way through the Persian army as the king Leonidas or as the leader of the phalanx unit in the Spartan army. Gamers must navigate their 300 men through several environments as they face and defeat the Persian soldiers who greatly outnumber them. Throughout the game, players will face end-of-level bosses and the occasional angry elephant. To complete each level, gamers will wield one of three types of weapons against the enemy in the hopes of coming out victorious. Players can take up a single sword, double blades, or a spear, and then take out their competitors to earn killing currency that can upgrade weapons and fighting combos. On the battlefield, each kill increases the rage meter. Gamers can spend their rage on low-level power attacks or let the bar fill and then annihilate their opposition with full rage powers including the "Eye of God."

Contents

Story

The game begins shortly before the Battle of Thermopylae where the player takes on the role as King Leonidas, fighting through scenes from both movie and book. Armour can be upgraded, as can weapons and stats. The player battles through hordes of Persian warriors including slaves, spearmen, archers, Immortals, Persian champions, two Persian generals, Mardonius and Hydarnes. The action is furthered when the Spartan army forms a phalanx formation. This is used to fight not only even more Persians, but giant beasts such as elephants as well. As the game keeps progressing, Leonidas is able to wield two swords and the ability to change between weapon styles.

Reception

The game was met with average to poor reviews, with an average score of 54.4% on GameRankings.com [1] and 55 out of 100 on Metacritic.com [2] Despite this, 300: March to Glory is part of the PSP's Greatest Hits collection.
