Operational history

Organized under First Air Force in late 1944, deployed to the Pacific Theater in 1945 and assigned to Twentieth Air Force. Engaged in combat during the last few days of the war. Assigned to Eighth AF in August 1945 and to Far East Air Forces in 1946. Served as part of the Army of Occupation on Okinawa. After 18 August 1948, no units assigned and existed as a paper unit. Inactivated on Okinawa on 20 January 1949.
