(3G Americas, LLC, Bellevue, WA, www.3gamericas.org) A wireless industry trade organization founded in 2002 to focus on the integration and deployment of leading wireless technologies in North and Latin America. As the successor to the Universal Wireless Communication Consortium (UWCC), its founding companies are AT&T Wireless, Cingular Wireless, Compaq, Ericsson, Lucent, Motorola, Nokia, Openwave Systems, Rogers AT&T Wireless (Canada) and Siemens. Closely aligned with the European-based GSM Association, 3G Americas supports the third generation wireless data services of GSM, GPRS, EDGE, TDMA and WCDMA (UMTS).
