44 Adelaide is a community television station broadcasting in Adelaide, South Australia on the Channel 31 frequency since 23 April 2004. It was previously known as C31 before it started transmitting in Digital.

Previous to C31 and 44, Adelaide's community television station was run by Adelaide Community and Education Television Inc., or ACE TV (sometimes known as "ACE Channel 6", despite broadcasting on UHF 31). ACE TV held a temporary licence from May 1994^[1] until December 2002, when it was cancelled due to breaches of its licence conditions.^[2] ACE TV last broadcast in May 2002.^[3]

Some local and interstate content is shown, such as Cool Zone. Programs such as News Hour from VOA are regularly shown.

In 2004, most community TV services in capital cities received permanent licences from the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA). However, the process for allocating a permanent licence in Adelaide, which began in 2004, was terminated in mid-2006; the two prospective applicants (of which 44 Adelaide was one) were declined for different reasons.^[4] The future of a permanent community licence in Adelaide remains unclear, as ACMA awaits "further developments in the policy framework for digital television" before deciding whether to advertise the licence. ACMA instead decided to extend the temporary licence of 44 Adelaide, and as of 2010, the station continues to operate in this manner.

44 Adelaide commenced their digital television service on 5 November 2010, branded as 44 Adelaide due to its LCN of 44, as allocated to all metropolitan community television services.^[5][6]
