The 470th Bombardment Group is an inactive United States Air Force unit. It was last assigned to the Fourth Air Force, being stationed at Tonopah Army Airfield, Nevada. It was inactivated on 31 March 1944.
The 470th was a World War II B-24 Liberator operational training unit (OTU) initially assigned to Second Air Force. It was reassigned to Fourth Air Force in early 1944 as a replacement training unit (RTU) when 2d AF switched to B-29 Superfortress training. It was inactivated shortly afterward when the need for B-24 aircrews was diminished.
