Biography

69 Boyz is one of the half-dozen bass-music production efforts headed by C.C. Lemonhead and Jay Ski (of Quad City DJ's and 95 South). The actual group, rappers Thill Van, Fast, Slow, and Rottweiler "Mike Mike," came together in Jacksonville, FL. After Lemonhead and Jay Ski hit triple-platinum with 1993's "Whoot (There It Is)" as 95 South, they formed their own CeeJai Productions company and wrote and produced the single "Tootsee Roll" for 69 Boyz. The track hit the Top Ten of the R&B charts, and went double-platinum. The album 199Quad followed later that year, and also hit platinum. Second album The Wait Is Over followed in 1998 and 2069 arrived two years later. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide

69 Boyz are a platinum selling Miami bass and hip hop group originating from Jacksonville, Florida, but who work mainly in Orlando, Florida. The group was created by producers C.C. Lemonhead and Jay Ski (of Chill Deal, Quad City DJs and 95 South), and consists of rappers La Shaun Van "Thrill Da Playa" Bryant, Barry "Fast" Wright, Greg "Slow" Thomas, and Rottweiler Mike Mike. The name of the group derives from the fact that all of its members were born in 1969.

The group had success in the summer of 1994 with its first single, "Tootsee Roll", from their debut album 199Quad. The song went Platinum and reached #8 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #9 on the R&B chart. Other farily successful singles they have had include "Kitty Kitty", also from the album 199Quad, which peaked at #55 on the Billboard Hot 100, and 1998's "Woof Woof", written for the feature film Dr. Dolittle starring Eddie Murphy, and also appearing on their second album, The Wait Is Over. The song reached #31 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Their debut album, released in 1994, was called Nineteen Ninety Quad, a reference to the year of its release. Nineteen Ninety Quad was a huge success in and around Florida, popular with Floridians of the generation of the album release time frame. Their second album, The Wait Is Over, came out in 1998, and their third album, 2069, in 2000.
