79th Street is a local station on the BMT West End Line of the New York City Subway, located in Brooklyn at the intersection of 79th Street and New Utrecht Avenue, in the neighborhood of Bensonhurst. It is served by the D train (all times), and by the M train rush hours.

Steel fencing is present on both platforms. This station has two fare control areas. The south end of the station at 79th Street is open full-time. It has two staircases to the street and two staircases to each platform. The north end of the station at 77th Street is divided up around the closed and sealed mezzanine. Fare control is outside the mezzanine, and there is no crossunder. The Manhattan-bound side has HEET access but has no room for any MetroCard vending machines. The Coney Island-bound side is exit only. There is evidence that there was a booth inside this mezzanine when it was open and usable. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority's 2005–2009 Capital Construction Program calls for renovation of the stations on the West End Line, including 79th Street.
