Compete with up to three other opponents to capture the gold for your country. Also released as Konami '88, '88 Games was designed to coincide with the 1988 summer Olympic Games in Seoul, Korea. The game is an unofficial sequel of sorts to Track and Field (as well as Hyper Sports) in that onscreen movement is coordinated through tapping two buttons in tandem with an action button to perform various events such as the pole vault, relay race, high jump, and long jump. The game is just as fun as its progenitors, and it looks and sounds even better. Multiple camera angles have been added in an attempt to give the game a "televised" look and feel. ~ Paul Biondich, All Game Guide
Roots & Influences
