Lillian was a married laywoman in an area of 9th century Spain
controlled by Moors. She initially kept her Christiany secret, not
displaying enough of her faith to risk the attention of her Muslim
neighbors. But stories of the persecution of active Christians in
the persecution of Caliph Abderrahman II shamed her into openly
living her faith. She was martyred about the year 852 at Cordoba,
Spain.
