Almost no circumcised penises 'smell'. Only uncircumcised ones do. And, there are TWO types of smelliness to it. First, after about only a day of not washing, it produces an arousing, unique smell. Then, after about 3 or so days not washing it, it becomes rancid and may produce dick cheese, or 'smegma'. So, they smell both good and bad; and they smell because it's natural. Why do vagina's stink like fish?, or like opening a can of sardines.

Have you tried getting a filtration system for the tank? My turtle tank used to smell, until I got a filter for it. Now it never, ever smells, even when it's really dirty.

Go to Petco and ask about a Whisper filtration system. It's incredibly easy to set up; you basically just take it out of the box and hang it over the side of the tank. You need Bio-Bag disposable filters to go with it, which are also very easy to use.

If the tank is not big enough for the turtle it will start to smell much quicker. I currently have a slider about the size of a half dollar in a ten gallon aquarium. He has a terrarium water filter that stays running. They are available for under $20. Mine was $9 at my local pet store. The filter really helps out. My other slider kept needing to be upgraded to larger tanks. When he got to be the size of a pie plate, we had to make a pond for him outside. Sliders do get to be large (dinner plate size and up) and if you do not have the proper size home and filtration for them, smell will become an issue.
