Survivor: China gets under way with the first gathering of the season's sixteen contestants in downtown Shanghai. Then it is off to the Hang Pu for a Buddhist ceremony in the Mi Tuo Temple (one of the players, Christian radio personality Leslie Nease, politely begs off from attending this ceremony because it is counter to her religious beliefs. Ultimately, host Jeff Probst maroons the contestants on two islands in Zhelin Lake, with only the clothes on their backs. The sixteen are then divided into two tribes: the Zhan-Hu, led by Dave Cruser and dressed in yellow; and the Fei Long, headed by Peih-Gee Law and dressed in red. There's still time for the first Reward/Immunity challenge, which involves traditional Chinese dragon puppets and a maze. And at the end of the first three days, the first person is voted off the island by the Tribal Council (hint: the name of the person can be found in the episode's title). ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
