One of the many faceless Christmas discs pumped out by the St. Clair label, A Choral Christmas: The Gold Collection bills itself as something of considerable significance -- instead, it turns out to be a fairly innocuous set. Each a cappella rendition is performed by the Angelica Quartet. Many of the usual standards are performed, ranging from playful to spiritual, including "Joy to the World," "Jingle Bells," "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town," "Deck the Halls," "We Three Kings," "Away in a Manger," "The Little Drummer Boy," "Carol for Christmas Day," "The Virgin Mary Had a Baby Boy," and "Angels From the Realms of Glory." ~ Andy Kellman, All Music Guide
