This Stash LP has 16 recordings of Cole Porter songs, mostly taken from a period when the soon-to-be standard material was still fairly new. Despite apperaances by Ethel Waters, the Paul Whiteman Orchestra, Jimmy Dorsey, Artie Shaw and Tommy Dorsey, the interpretations tend to be closer to middle-of-the-road pop than jazz so this set is more for Cole Porter fans than for those listeners who would rather hear heated swing performances. ~ Scott Yanow, Rovi| A Cold December Night (Album by Erin Bode) | |
