"A Constellation of Doubt" is an episode from the fourth season of the American television series Farscape, written by David Kemper and directed by Andrew Prowse.

Synopsis

John is trying to find out where Aeryn is following her capture by Scarrans in the previous episode, "Bringing Home the Beacon". He believes it likely she has been taken to the secret base of Katratzi, which Sikozu tries to find the location of. Crichton is sure he has heard the name before, but cannot remember where. The crew of Moya all try to comfort him while they search. To pass the time, Crichton watches a documentary from earth, the transmission for which Moya picked up near the wormhole to earth. On the program, the aliens are treated harshly and with suspicion. Aeryn's words are twisted to make it seem like earth is in danger from attack by the Peacekeepers. Noranti's edit shows her saying many bad things about religion and casting aspersions on the healings she was able to accomplish with herbs. D'Argo is seen as dangerous, as he "tongues" Bobby unconscious, at Bobby's request. A psychiatrist who is interviewed pronounces John as suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. Sikozu is portrayed as hostile and threatening, contemptuous of earth and its petty bickering. Rygel eats a lot and is buffoonish. Chiana is portrayed as "troubled"--with an implication that she is trying to seduce Crichton's nephew Bobby, and showing her drinking out of the toilet, since she thinks it's strange humans are so wasteful with water. She is also shown crying over the death of a rat (killed by Noranti with poison). In a candid moment, Aeryn is shown preparing for Christmas with the Crichton's and talking about how earth's hostile approach to the aliens is troubling, because they are the "nice" aliens, and earth needs their help to resist the "bad" aliens. While being interviewed in the studio, Aeryn inadvertently answers not the question she was asked, but the question that was on her mind--could humans and aliens marry and have offspring? She becomes flustered when asked directly if a human-alien hybrid were possible. Olivia Crichton deflects the question by sarcastically denying that Aeryn is pregnant with John's baby--though of course, Aeryn actually is pregnant, most likely with John's baby. The interviewer voices over that Aeryn is rumored to be John's lover. The program features several important moments--Sikozu emphasizes that Moya's comms are powerful devices to transmit conversations. Bobby secretly films John talking with his sister Olivia, during which she asks him about Aeryn, and he becomes agitated and bitterly says Aeryn has a word for them--"yesterday." Olivia denies this and tells him she can tell Aeryn "is waiting for you," and both John and Aeryn have "tells" that reveal their true feelings. John also avows he'll be OK, just never the same again.

Eventually, while watching the video, John sees a scene of Sikozu humming while playing with a silver dish that covers half her face. John realizes where he heard of Katratzi before--the hybrid Stark-Sikozu on the bizarro Moya in the episode "Unrealized Reality". John goes to Scorpius and tells him he knows he was set up, but he doesn't care. He doesn't' care about the things Scorpius cares about. Scarrans rule the Peacekeepers, Peacekeepers rule the Scarrans, doesn't matter. The one thing he cares about in the universe is Aeryn. If Scorpius helps him get Aeryn back from the Scarrans, he'll give him wormholes. John then asks D'Argo to turn Moya around to the wormhole to earth, so he can go to the bizarro Moya.
