A Diplomatic Mission

Plot

Manly Vitagraph star Earle Williams stars in this adventure film, which was typical of World War I-era entertainment. Sylvester Todd, a handsome American (Williams), is visiting the South Seas island of Somona, which is under the rule of the Grand Duke of a German principality. There, he meets Lady Diana Loring (Grace Darmond), who has found herself at the mercy of the duke's son. Todd saves Lady Diana and gives the duke's son a sound thrashing, which necessitates his quick exit from the island. He heads for Singapore, where his friend, Sir John Royden (Leslie Stuart), convinces him to go to another island, Platina, to save a platinum mine there from falling into German hands. Once Todd arrives on the island, he discovers that Lady Diana has taken refuge there. With the help of an American warship, Todd victoriously battles the "Hun" foreman and the restless natives.
