Review

The second release of their EP trilogy, (A)fternoon delivers another dose of Mae's ultra-positive, sunny alt-rock. To go along with the band's dedication to its charitable works and community outreach programs, the album has a very inspirational feeling. “Communication” easily sweeps the listener up with its simple rhythms and singalong choruses, inviting them to become a part of the movement Mae are putting into motion. The other songs on the EP possess the same kind of momentum, combining accessibility and pathos to create songs that hook you in both musically and emotionally. (A)fternoon should have no trouble pleasing Mae devotees, and despite being an EP, the album has a consistent musical vision that makes it an easy listen for the uninitiated, so newcomers shouldn't have a problem finding something to like. ~ Gregory Heaney, Rovi
