aṣṭāṇga-śīla

(Sanskrit, Pāli aṭṭha-sīla). A list of eight precepts made up of the Five Precepts (pañca-śīla) with the addition of abstention from (6) eating at the wrong time; (7) dancing, singing, music, watching shows, wearing garlands, perfumes, cosmetics, and personal adornments; (8) use of high seats or beds.
