Review

When Aerosmith returned to their original label in the '90s, there were still contractual obligations to Geffen. A Little South of Sanity completes the Geffen cycle, and unlike most groups who toss together something in order to move on, Aerosmith took great care in compiling this double-length live collection that covers more than 25 years. Recorded during tours for Get a Grip (1993-1994) and Nine Lives (1997-1998), it becomes readily apparent here that Aerosmith still tore it up live regardless of how many power ballads they had unleashed on radio since the late '80s. If 1978's Live Bootleg gave listeners Aerosmith at their ripsnorting peak, then Sanity provides a reflection of a classic band that's aged gracefully without losing any of its spark., Rovi

A Little South of Sanity is a live album by American hard rock band Aerosmith, released in 1998. This album was the only Aerosmith album to receive the Parental Advisory sticker, primarily due to lead singer Steven Tyler shouting profanities in between songs and modifying some song lyrics to racier ones, although some other song lyrics had profanity in their original studio versions as well (even their next studio album, Just Push Play contained profanity).

On the seal, the album title is misnamed as "A Little South of Insanity."

There are no listings to support where or when each performance was culled from. Only the listing that all tracks are from either the Get A Grip or Nine Lives World Tours. However, during the track Sweet Emotion (On disc 2), Tyler shouts out "Seattle", and in Falling in Love (is hard on the knees) (On disc 1) he says "Ohhhh, West Palm Beach!" A bootleg called, "Yokohama Arena 3/12/98" has Last Child being recorded at the same time as the title revealed to where the song was performed, also, Steven says, "Motherfucker" out loud as if it was edited in this live album.

At the beginning of disc 2, before starting Back in the Saddle, Steven Tyler shouts, "I've got blisters on my sisters!", referencing a similar thing Ringo Starr shouted at the end of The Beatles song Helter Skelter.
