Sym. by Vaughan Williams (his 2nd, first wholly orch.) comp. 1911–13, f.p. 1914, rev. 1918, 1920, 1933. Though not programmatic, contains picturesque features such as Westminster chimes, lavender‐seller's cry, jingle of hansom‐cabs, and street musicians.
