Plot

Reportedly based on a true story, the two-part British miniseries A Marriage of Inconvenience was set in 1945. Flying in the face of tradition, class consciousness, and racial prejudice, a young white woman named Ruth (Niamh Cusack) entered into a marriage with a black African man named Seretse (Raymond Johnson). The ensuing nationwide scandal rocked the foundations of British society and sorely strained the relationship between the two protagonists.
