A New Era (UNT, Un Nuevo Tiempo) is a centrist political party of Venezuela arising from the Third Way tradition. It is the largest party in Venezuela's fractured opposition, earning 11% of the vote in the 2008 gubernatorial elections. The party arose in Zulia State, largely as a personal vehicle for Manuel Rosales, and remains far stronger in its home region than elsewhere in the country.
Four members of Un Nuevo Tiempo were elected deputies to the National Assembly in the July 30, 2000 legislative elections. Un Nuevo Tiempo boycotted the December 4, 2005 legislative elections. The party's previous leader was Manuel Rosales, a Mayor of Maracaibo, Venezuela's second largest city and the capital of Zulia State. He was also its candidate for the 2006 presidential election, attracting some 37% of the national vote.
Omar Barboza is the current party president.[1]
