Larry Rivera looks and sounds like a kid, right down to the seemingly oversized acoustic guitar. Even the cocktails which accompany his jacket photo -- two mai tais with umbrellas surrounded by leis -- do little to convince us Larry is much over 20. But that is perhaps his strength, especially in contrast to Don Ho. A fixture of the "Royal Lagoon Terrace," Larry sings plaintively and effectively with the accompaniment of two ukuleles and bass. While his singing is fine, the glassy (fixated) look in his eyes and generally nerdy appearance makes it doubtful that even a very drunken tourist would have accepted that nite cap. A Nite Cap with Larry does have all of the "qualifications" of a true lounge-act record, which is to say it is comically, cheesily bad. ~ Tony Wilds, Rovi
