Plot

In this documentary on the chances of an 18-year-old parolee of obtaining any kind of schooling or viable job, director Paul Schiffer looks back at the teenager's earlier life (partially recorded in another Schiffer documentary when the boy was 10) involving years of parental abuse and no opportunities for an education. Neither government social workers nor anything else in the system seem able to correct or even ameliorate the effects of a lifetime of neglect - a sad comment on the freedoms granted parents to "own" their children. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi
