Review

A short collection of songs meant to tie in to the early-morning children's show Ugogo Ruga, which was half for kids and half for wized-up partygoers returning home when the sun was coming up. Pizzicato Five's vocalist Nomiya Maki sings a song with the two seven-year-old presenters ("Love Love Show"), plays a Japanese word game with them ("Shiritori"), and takes French lessons from the animated host ("Bonjour"). This will all be lost on the non-Japanese speaker (though those kids sound cute), but the EP contains a Sound of Philadelphia-esque version of "The Night is Still Young" and an interesting cover of the Bacharach/David song "Me, Japanese Boy." The CD package comes with its own children's book full of lyrics. ~ Ted Mills, Rovi
