One of the many faceless Christmas discs pumped out by the St. Clair label, A Traditional Christmas: The Gold Collection bills itself as something of considerable significance -- instead, it turns out to be a fairly innocuous set. Each rendition is performed by the Giulini Quartet. Many of the usual standards are performed, ranging from playful to spiritual, including "We Wish You a Merry Christmas," "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town," "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer," "What Child Is This," "Away in a Manger," "Joy to the World," "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing," "O Come All Ye Faithful," and "The First Noel." ~ Andy Kellman, All Music Guide
