A Very Short Story is a short story written by Ernest Hemingway.
Synopsis
A World War I soldier and a nurse named "Luz" fall in love. They agree to get married, but after the soldier returns home to the United States, Luz writes to him that she has fallen in love with someone else. The soldier contracts the clap shortly afterward.
Hemingway's first serious relationship was the basis for this story. Indeed, he wrote it almost exactly how events played out in real life.
