Review

Sometimes a group comes along that gets listeners exclaiming, "How wonderful!" when they learn of another release. A Virtual Curmudgeon is just such a group, and their A Virtual Curmudgeon, Vol. 2 can certainly be welcomed eagerly, especially by everyone who is avid to hear more hammer dulcimer playing from the ever skillful Bob Shank. "Money Musk Fernamagh Highland" is a solo performance of his and his virtuosity is again well evident. Equally elegant is the original ballad "Tonight, Tonight," with exquisite vocals by Shannon Brown and songwriter Kim Monday, with Mike Furbee on violin. "Theme Song" is a lovely instrumental, mellow and flowing, as is "Locked Inside." The quality of all these selections, from the a cappella "What Will We Do?" to the Arabian-tinged sounds of "O'Asis," is excellent. So yes, it's another keeper and a very highly recommended album. ~ Murrday Fisher, Rovi
