Review

With two albums of political commentary already out on Verve, Mort Sahl slacked off a little bit for A Way of Life, talking more about society for much of the album, whether that be how people interacted with each other and their environment in Hollywood, the state of affairs in Las Vegas, or the difference between a brothel and a sorority house. That's not to say he doesn't take any shots at those in charge: He takes aim at Eisenhower, Nixon, and American foreign policy, as well as addressing the situation in Israel and Syria. Just the simple fact that it's not wall-to-wall politics will make the album a whole lot easier for most people to take. Anyway, onward.... ~ Sean Carruthers, Rovi
