A Week of Kindness

A Week of Kindness, or AWOK, is a sketch comedy troupe in New York City. Since the troupe's formation in Spring 2005, it has produced eight sketch revues and performed at numerous New York City comedy venues, including the Peoples Improv Theatre and the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre.^[1] AWOK's videos have been featured on Collegehumor.com, Bestweekever.tv, and Myspace.com.

Cast members include Nate Kushner, Dan Hopper, and Mike Still. Former members include Devin T. Quin, Allysha Powanda, and Erica Harsch.

In March 2005, the group's blog received some attention when member Nate Kushner published transcripts of chats he had with an undergraduate college student he renamed "Laura K. Krishna", who solicited him to write a college paper for her about "something Hindu". Kushner wrote a paper that was obviously falsified and plagiarized and set her up to get caught by her school.^[2]

Appearances

In November 2008, A Week of Kindness are scheduled to appear at the 4th Annual Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival [1], the largest independent comedy festival in Canada. The festival was founded by Julianne and Paul Snepsts of the comedy troupe Boiled Weiners and takes place over 6 days and 3 venues (including The Second City [2]) in Toronto, Canada.
