The A478 road is a major route in the Welsh counties of Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire, connecting Cardigan (junction with the A487 road) and Tenby.

Route

From north to south it runs through:

  • Cardigan;
  • — crosses the county boundary to Pembrokeshire
  • Pen-y-Bryn;
  • Rhoshill;
  • Blaenffos;
  • Crymych;
  • — crosses the county boundary to Carmarthenshire
  • Efailwen;
  • — re-crosses the county boundary to Pembrokeshire
  • Llandissilio;
  • — until around 2001 at this point the road re-crossed the county boundary to Carmarthenshire to between Clynderwen and the A40, but now after local government boundary changes it stays wholly in Pembrokeshire
  • Clynderwen and Clynderwen railway station;
  • — crosses the A40 road;
  • Narberth;
  • Templeton;
  • Begelly;
  • — crosses the A477 road;
  • Pentlepoir;
  • Wooden;
  • Moreton;
  • New Hedges;
  • Tenby.
