Biography

The father-son duo of Aaron and Jeoffrey Benward have crossed the generation gap with an energetic gospel pop on several albums for Star Song/Chordant. The father, Jeoffrey, had been quite involved in Christian music since the '70s, and on having a talk with his son Aaron about what he wanted to do for a living, was surprised to hear that he wanted to do the same. They decided to begin recording together, and though several labels had problems with the eccentric pairing, Aaron & Jeoffrey released their self-titled debut album in 1995. After the Rain followed one year later, after which the pair acknowledged the alternative revolution in secular music by toning down the flawless productions and adding some energy into their songs. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide

Aaron Jeoffrey was a Contemporary Christian music son/father duo that rose to popularity during the 90s.

Father Jeoffrey Benward was already involved in Christian music since the 70s. In the early 90s, upon asking his then-teenager son Aaron what he wanted to do for a living, was surprised to find out that he wanted to follow his path in music.

They decided to begin recording together, and though several labels had problems with the eccentric pairing, Starsong picked them up. They went into the studio and started working on their eponymous debut album which was released in 1995. The album featured guest vocals by dc Talk.

They followed with After the Rain in 1996 and with Climb in 1997. Shortly after, both father and son decided to follow their individual careers.

During their career, Aaron Jeoffrey has had 14 Top Five radio singles, 9 of which made it to #1. Their three albums have sold more than 100,000. They were twice nominated for a Dove Award in the "Song of the Year" category for their classic "He Is."

Their Goal

Aaron states that "One goal is to show a positive parent/child relationship, and hopefully be a role model for fathers and their sons or parents and their children. We have taken to heart the last prophetic word of the Old Testament where it says in Malachi 4:6 that 'The fathers' hearts would be turned to their children and the children's hearts to their fathers, lest I smite them with a curse.' Every social problem that we face today can be traced back to a dysfunctional family life. We [want to address] these problems not only through our songs but by simply being who we are."
