ABAS Software AG is a software enterprise with headquarters in Karlsruhe, Germany. The core competence of ABAS Software AG is the development of flexible ERP and eBusiness software for medium-sized companies with up to 1,000 employees. The company ABAS that was once characterized by students has now become a group of companies. ABAS Software AG in Karlsruhe employs about 90 people, together with over 50 abas partners worldwide in 62 locations that is a total of approx. 550 employees.[1]
Products
The company's products include abas ERP for production, abas Trade for trade and service companies and the eBusiness solution abas eB. The software has a three tier architecture, at the basis of which is an object-oriented database. The application tier is based on the database. It contains the core functions of the software. The presentation tier or the "Flexible User Interface (FOP)" is added as the third tier. This forms the interface to the user. The "Individual User Interface", the "Standard Flexible User Interface" and the "abas Tools" all belong to the presentation tier.[2]

- 1980 Abakus GmbH Gesellschaft für datenverarbeitende Systeme is founded by the students Peter Forscht and Werner Strub and three fellow students in the Karlstraße in Karlsruhe (Germany).
- 1980 The company is renamed to ABAS GmbH Gesellschaft für datenverarbeitende Systeme.
- 1983 In the trade register the company name is changed to ABAS GmbH Technik - Systemanalyse - Organisation - EDV.
- 1985 ABAS moves into larger office spaces in the Schirmerstraße since more space is required.
- 1987 The company SYSTEM III is founded, its field of action is the development of software on behalf of ABAS GmbH.
- 1990 The ABAS GmbH moves into new office spaces in the Beuthenerstraße in Karlsruhe.
- 1992 ABAS creates its own sales branches in Alzenau and Berlin.
- 1993 For the first time ABAS has its own stand at CeBIT, so far they had only participated as sub-exhibitors.
- 1993 The sales branches in Alzenau and Berlin become independent closed corporations and are made abas Software Partners. The partner network in Germany is slowly expanded.
- 1993 ABAS makes its first connections with foreign countries, e.g. Prague and Vienna.
- 1994 The company name is changed again, the new name is: ABAS Software GmbH.
- 1996 ABAS Software GmbH and SYSTEM III merge to form the ABAS Software AG. The shares are being held by the employees.
- 1998 In December ABAS Software AG moves into the corner building on Südendstraße / Brauerstraße in Karlsruhe. The developing department is situated on the 4th floor in the Brauerstraße, support and administration are on the 2nd floor in the Südendstraße. ABAS welcomes the first Software Partners form non German-speaking countries (Hungary, Turkey).
- 2001 ABAS gains new partners in France, Spain and Indonesia.
- 2002 ABAS is increasingly expanding abroad, especially the distribution in the
USA is established. - 2003 Further foreign partners are being added in the Netherlands, Romania, Bulgaria, Italy, Latin America, Australia, Malaysia and China.
- 2004 For the first time 25% of annual new installations are overseas. ABAS gains new partners in Turkey, Poland, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates.
- 2005 ABAS celebrates its 25th company anniversary. The abas group is represented worldwide in 25 countries. The ABAS Software AG has established a qualified partner network of over 400 IT organizational and application consultants for their customer support.
