ABBA Gold Plated, Vol. 1: A Tribute to ABBA gathers a coterie of little-known bands to cover ABBA's hits, plus a few underexposed items. While a few bands treat their entries simply as kitsch artifacts, most of these versions are surprisingly faithful to and respectful of the originals. Unfortunately, the performances and production aren't always polished enough to invite complimentary comparisons, making it less than essential.
