Game Description

The crew from ABC's Monday Night Football is present and accounted for in OT Sports' ABC Monday Night Football. In ABC Monday Night Football, you are presented with options -- take it straight out to the field to battle over the pigskin, or sit back and relax by using the coaching mode. You can also choose from various options like weather, sound volume, level of difficulty, and more. The sportscasters from the Monday night show provide commentary for the game. ABC Monday Night Football can be played by two players.

Review: Overall

Football is one of the nation's leading sports. Millions of viewers tune in to see their favorite team(s) go at it on the field. Capitalizing on that popularity, one of the sports networks (a la ESPN) has taken a step to create their own version of what goes down on Monday night. ABC brings to PC gamers, ABC Monday Night Football, a combination gameplay/simulation that provides a good overall experience but falls short in certain areas.

In gameplay, you can choose from any of the NFL teams and have at it on the field. There is a well-designed play calling with hundreds of plays from which to choose. If you are not satisfied with what you see, you have the option to alter a play, a very intuitive feature. Make calls from the playbook, edit, trade, it is all there. However, the best way to experience Monday Night Football is in the simulation mode, which gives armchair coaches the chance to sit back and put into practice the calls they made the night before.

Graphically, the detail is standard, with stadiums lacking the most. The players pixelate when zoomed in on -- a bit of a turn off -- and the music is standard football rock. You will marvel over the commentary. Al Michaels, Dan Dierdorff, and Frank Gifford join in to give gamers the most comprehensive analysis of the game in the business, while Lynn Swann reports from down on the sidelines.

When you look at it, ABC Monday Night Football may just seem like your average football title, and in some respects it is. If you give it a chance, however, ABC Monday Night Football does prove to have some depth after all.

Review: Enjoyment

Avid sports fans, especially sim fans, will enjoy this a lot more than the average sports gamer.

Review: Graphics

Overall, graphics are nice but tend to get a tad pixelated when viewed up close. Stadiums could use a touch up.

Review: Sound

Excellent crowd sounds with an up to par commentary.

Review: Replay Value

Not a whole lot offered to keep players coming back.

Review: Documentation

The manual covers game instructions well.
